Are you experiencing room spinning sensation or head-spinning sensation? Or is it a sensation of light-headedness or off-balance?
What triggers or worsens your dizziness/unsteadiness?
Dizziness can be triggered by head movements, positional changes or busy visual environments. Keeping a note of triggers is useful.
How long does the dizziness last?
Duration can vary from seconds to days. Please make a note of the duration of your dizziness attacks.
Do you have any other symptoms when you feel dizzy?
Note if you have headaches, hearing loss, sensitivity to bright light/loud noises.
Have you completed the Dizziness Questionnaire(s)?
If you have not already completed the Dizziness Quiz online, you will be completing the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) before the appointment.
At the appointment
- Your specialist will start by listening to your background history about your dizziness.
- Your specialist will analyse any questionnaire(s) completed prior to the appointment.
- Following subjective screening, you will undergo dizziness & balance specific physical examination.
- In most cases, at the end of the assessment, a diagnosis will be given.
- Your specialist will explain the condition and treatment options in plain language.
- If suitable, you will receive treatment. You will receive patient information via email.
- It's not unusual to feel dizziness worsened after the initial appointment, but symptoms will calm down within an hour.
